Contrast in graphic work is an effective method to direct your viewer's interest to what you consider is the center of interest in a photograph. The positioning of objects to make contrast gives objects an extra emphasis and points viewers attention.
Contrast relates to the composition. In black and white photographs, the contrast would be in the difference the subject tones that got from white to gray then. In color photography the different colors make up the contrast.
